A flat gravel road ride, a river crossing, followed by a steep farm track to the staircase and back again.
Description
 It crosses the river, passes Avoca Hut ( DOC Backcountry Hut) and climbs steeply up the ?Bold Hill? to "The Devils Staircase", here the 4wd track ends, and you begin the ride back. This is track involves a river crossing. The wooden bridge across the river is in a very bad state of disrepair.
Getting there
Drive from Christchurch to Arthurs Pass along Highway 73, turn left onto Craggieburn Road. This turns into gravel road and will be the track you bike along to the finish (and back again).
