The ride usually starts at Little River, grinding up Western Valley Rd before heading into farmland and up to Mts Sinclair and Fitzgerald. There are spectacular views North of the peninsula and also Lake Forsyth and Akaroa Harbour. The Banks Paninsula walkway route is followed through to the Summit Rd, then along the summit Rd to Hilltop. The ride then goes down a steep gravel rd (or the main road can be followed) down to Little River again. Take plenty of water and clothing to allow for weather change on the tops.
