For all rides: Be prepared with a bike in good order, helmet, food, water, jacket, tube, tools and pump. If your bike is a wreck you are unlikely to enjoy the ride, and the kind people who help you out won't enjoy it so much either. Ride leaders will turn people away if they are not prepared! Having said that, we are a happy bunch, and believe in a good time for all.

Grade: 2-3 Sandwich Rating: 4 When: Sunday 21 March - 08:00 am (it is a long drive) Meet: Belfast Pub Ride Leader: Michael Allison ph 360 3090, 022 603 2043 There is an article on Vorb about the ride:http://www.vorb.org.nz/article-71337.html Description: We will drive to Mount White bridge then follow the road alongside the Waimakariri to its confluence with the Poulter. From here we hop on our bikes and follow the bank of the Poulter to the Casey hut. The ride is mostly on 4WD track which has many undulations, some steep and loose. We will have a much deserved lunch at the hut before heading home the same way. For the very adventurous, the track does continue up the valley to the Poulter hut, this is mostly a push/carry with bikes, but a splinter group may wish to consider it. Don't forget plenty of food and drink, clothing appropriate to the weather and the backcountry, sunscreen and 2 spare tubes (matagouri country). The ride leader reserves the right to turn away anyone without adequate food/ fluid. Grade 2 with short sections of grade 3 (some steep and rocky bits), physically tough and long, 4 sandwiches. Estimate 5-6 hours+ depending on length of breaks. Meet at Yaldhurst hotel to car pool at 8.00am (as it is a long drive).
