The Canterbury Mountain Bike Club was formed in the 1980's [1988 seems to be about the date, club records show the 2001 AGM as being the 13th and the 2002 AGM as being the 14th] and comprises approximately 100 members.

Membership subscription is for a rolling 12 month period.

There are four elected positions: President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. There are also a number of elected commitee members.

The committee organises a ride list and social events.

The Annual General Meeting is held in April.

Sunday Club Rides

Organised rides are held every second Sunday, and are usually excursions into the hills of Canterbury, Banks Peninsula  and various national parks that are within a couple of hours  drive from Christchurch. Many of the rides climb hills for marvellous views; explore back country farm tracks; follow rivers or well known tracks.

While a reasonable level of fitness is assumed for most trips, club rides are social and and care is taken to ensure the pace is reasonble for all those involved.

Weekly Rides

The Club runs two weekly rides: One up Rapaki track on a Tuesday night, and the other through Bottle Lake Forrest on a Thursday evening. See the Ride List for more details and check with the ride organiser.

Club Nights

Club nights are currently on hold - It turns out Mountain Bikers are more interested in biking than meetings!
