Rides

Rides are run two Sundays a month, with some weekend trips. A list of dates and ride information is available under the "Ride List" tab. All rides are graded and have an organiser's name. Please ring the ride organiser if you have any queries about the ride or meeting place.

Sandwich rating (1-5)

Depending on the type of riding and how long the organiser expects the ride to last, each ride has been given a sandwich rating, so you can be prepared and bring plenty of food. Along with those scrummy sandwiches don't forget to put in plenty of high energy snacks to give you a burst of energy for that last climb. Carrying enough water for yourself is also crucial. Take a water bottle or a camel-bak (full of course), and anything else you may wish to slurp.

Distance

This has been included to give you a rough idea of the approximate distance covered. Remember, if it is a hilly or technical ride the distance will take longer to ride.

Cancellation procedures

If the ride organiser has decided that the trip will not go ahead then they will turn up at the meeting place to inform you.

Clothing

It is essential to bring adequate clothing for the conditions that may be encountered on our trips. The weather can change rapidly and it is best to be prepared for all eventualities even in summer. A windproof, showerproof jacket must be carried and it is also advisable to wear or carry poly-proplene garments.

Equipment

Your bike should be in good condition and well-serviced. 2 spare tubes and some basic tools should be carried along with a pump and puncture repair kit. You are responsible for your own first aid kit and should carry it on the ride. The club's first aid kit stays in the ride leader's car.

Ride Organization

You will be required to give your name and phone number to the ride leader at the meeting place. This is to ensure that we can account for everyone at the end of a ride and for use in an emergency. Remember this is a recreational ride, not a race. The fun is in riding together.

Transport

Arrange with other club members to car pool and remember to chip in a for petrol when you get a lift.

Ride Report

The club rule is that the first person to fall off on a club ride is responsible for writing a report for publication in the club newsletter/web site.
