Club Rides: July/August - updated 15 July

For all rides:  Be prepared with a bike in good order, helmet, food, water, jacket, tube, tools and pump. If your bike is a wreck you are unlikely to enjoy the ride, and the kind people who help you out won't enjoy it so much either. Ride leaders will turn people away if they are not prepared!

Having said that, we are a happy bunch, and believe in a good time for all.

Required

Drive to the Blue Duck Cafe past Motukarara, then ride up Gebbies pass to the top. Branch off on the gravel road, then ride the track through the trees and up to the Packhorse. The Packhorse Hut sits in the pass below the Remarkable Dykes and there are great views back over Lytellton harbour, Gebbies Pass and the Summit Rd.
Grade 3 with some short interesting technical bits, but these bits are also quite steep so may have to be walked anyway. It is a 2hr + ride in, mostly up hill, however walking the last section is an option taken by some on past rides if they have been a bit weary or wary of the slope. The ride out is a blast.

Coffee at the Blue Duck to finish

Later
  • Staircase Gully
  • Kirwans Track
  • Big River
  • Caples
